This option is for applicants who are in the U.S. on a non-immigrant visa (for example B1/B2, H1) and wish to change their status to F-1. You must remain in the United States until your application is adjudicated and, once approved, you will be subject to travelling restrictions that do not apply for the regular F-1 students. You must be admitted into a full-time program of study at college and obtain the SEVIS Form I-20 from the office of International Student Services & Study Abroad.

Global Student Consulting is ready and eager to help you change your visa status so that you may become a student in the United States! We will organize and coordinate all of the paperwork that will need to be submitted, and we will walk you through the entire process.

To study in the United States, you need a Form I-20, “Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status.” This form is required for all international students who wish to study in the United States, and it certifies that a student has been accepted to a college or university and that they meet all financial requirements set by the United States government. This is a mandatory form for all international students, and it can be a frustrating process to see through to completion. GSC will assist you in gathering all necessary documentation so that you can legally obtain your I-20 Form, including your international proof of income and your sponsor affidavit. GSC will also help you understand the expectations of international students and the laws, restrictions, and rules that you must follow and abide by. This includes the details surrounding multiple entries into the country, how and when you can study, and the type of course load you must maintain.

At GSC, we know how adjusting to different cultures and norms can be confusing and sometimes difficult to understand. At our Academic and Cultural Orientation Seminar, we will help you understand both the academic and cultural expectations and rules of the United States. Our seminar will start at 9:00 AM and will last until 3:00 PM, with lunch provided. During the first half of the seminar, you will learn all of the academic rules, expectations, and laws that will be expected of you as an international student studying in the U.S. We will cover how to read a syllabus, how to interact with professors both in person and through email, how to locate campus learning and career centers, and the legal requirements of an international student.  During the second half of the seminar, we will cover cultural practices and expectations. This will include cultural norms, laws, customs, practices, diversity in food and people, manners, and even the holidays you can expect to encounter while here. We know that learning a whole new culture can be full of personal experience and faux pas, but we want to equip you with all of the information you will need to navigate daily activities and interactions with other students, professors, and the average American. We want to make your trip to the United States as easy and fun as possible, so we will also coordinate one social and one volunteer event each month.

College course selection is overwhelming, and not everyone has a clear idea of what courses they need or when they need to take them. GSC can help you with this process. Our team will help identify what your educational goals are and prepare a college degree plan each semester that will help you reach and achieve those goals. Then, we will help you register for your classes with your personal schedule, preferences, and obligations  in mind so that we can set you up for success. Each student will receive individualized one-on-one assistance because we understand that goals and dreams may change, as might a student’s specific major. We can help guide a student from taking their core classes to helping them make sure their prerequisites are met so they are set up for success.
