CONCURRENT STUDENT

Concurrent Enrollment is a program for Extension students to enroll in different university or community college courses (online or traditional classroom) without being formally admitted to the school. Classes that you take while concurrently enrolled may count toward your degree requirements at your current college if their criteria are met.

There are a number of reasons why both F-1 students with a SEVIS Form I-20 from a U.S. school and American students decide to become concurrent students. Some students are in need of a class schedule is more affordable or flexible. Other students would simply like to take a few courses at a different college. Whatever the case may be, GSC will guide you through the following steps to enroll you as a concurrent student.

Step 1: Make an Appointment with a GSC expert

When you first call Global Student Consulting, we will want to get some basic information from you about your professional and academic goals. The more we know about you, the better we can serve you. We will schedule a Consulting Appointment for you with one of our team members who will research and prepare information specifically designed to meet your needs. Our goal is to provide you with a Care Package that is a perfect fit for you.

Step 2: Online Application

GSC will help you to complete the online application for admission to your desired school

Step 3: Set up your online student account

GSC will help you navigate to the student system sign-in webpage and create your student user account. This will give you access to your to-do list, registration information, payments, etc.

Step 4: Prepare supporting documents

GSC will gather all of the necessary documents from you, including your current Form I-20, a copy of your passport, and a concurrent enrollment letter from your primary school of attendance.

Step 5: Upload documents to your To Do List

GSC will submit all the prepared supporting documents from step 4. At this point, the school will then review the application, and make their decision on your status. Turnaround times from each school can vary, so it is vital that your pertinent documents and information are turned in as soon as possible.

Step 6: Proof of meningitis vaccine

If you are under 22 years of age, you are required to submit proof of the meningitis vaccine to GSC. The system will not allow you to enroll in classes until your proof of vaccination has been processed. If you have not yet been vaccinated, GSC will assist you in getting your vaccination.

Step 7: Submit official transcript

Most of the schools will use unofficial transcripts or report cards, including any test scores from exams like the TOEFL, CAT, SAT, and ILETS (International English Language Testing System) for initial advisement and placement purposes. However, a transcript hold will be placed on your record until an official transcript is received in the Office of Students Records (Admissions) within the first semester of enrollment. An English proficiency test may be required.

Step 8: Register and pay for classes

If this is your first time enrolling at this college, GSC will coordinate a meeting with an academic advisor at the college where you are planning to attend classes. We will make sure you are approved by the school and able to register for courses. In addition, we will guide you through the registration process to ensure you are enrolled in all of your desired courses. After enrolling, we will assist you in the payment process, including a full tuition payment or a payment plan if applicable.

Step 9: Attend classes

Congratulations! Now you are ready to print your schedule for your records and attend the classes.
